Activities in the area
Jarrah Glen Cabins are surrounded by Jarrah & Marri and the property fronts the Blackwood River, a quiet spot to sit and watch the day go by.
There is an endless supply of trails and tracks through the forests to walk and see wildflowers and native animals , so just take a GPS with you and get lost... in the bush.
History
Tucked away you can find traces of history. At walking distance from Jarrah Glen Cabins you will find the old bridge across the Blackwood River, although not accessible it has great atmosphere and it is a perfect photo spot. The old railway trail crosses not far away. It’s a nice walk through the forest with a lot of information signs and old remnants from the time the train used to carry wood from the forests to the coast.
This is a photographers paradise!
Wildlife
Wherever you go, there is wildlife around including the red-tailed black cockatoo, which are listed as endangered, just step out of the cabin and you are surrounded by kangaroos, emus and kookaburras. They literally live on your doorstep. At present there are orchids and other wildflowers springing up, so small it’s hard not to squash them, makes you wonder how they survive!!
Sports, shops and the Great Outdoors
You can also go canoeing on the Blackwood River and there are fishing and marroning spots nearby. Within 20 minutes drive you’ll find yourself in the historic village of Nannup, and within an hour you can visit any of the wineries, breweries,or gallerys in this South West corner.
Jarrah Glen gives you the opportunity to have a holiday packed with action, or rest and relaxation. The surroundings are perfect for it!
